Academic Advisor
About The Position
The Academic Advisor guides students in developing and clarifying academic and career goals including academic planning, career planning, degree completion, academic student support, and engagement with the college experience. The Advisor provides proactive consultation, coaching, performs interventions, and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, campus, and community partners to promote and support student success. In addition, the Advisor is knowledgeable and works with internal and external partners to assist students with transfers, as needed. This position interprets information, guidelines, and procedures, as established by policy and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2 years of advising experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, especially with students
- Expert knowledge of skills and education necessary for various professions
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel, or counseling with five years of experience in educational planning, academic advising, and/or freshman-year programming.
- Experience using technology in the advising profession.
