About The Position

Incumbents provide academic counseling services to students requiring knowledge in a single area or across a number of disciplines. Responsibilities may include: academic advising; providing transfer, career, or personal guidance and information to students.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Education or related field and one year of related experience.
Customer service principles
Computers and related software applications
Applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations
Academic programs requirements
Workshop and program principles and operations
Presentation principles and practices
Diverse populations and cultures.
Providing customer service
Using computers and related software applications
Interpreting academic program requirements
Advising students on applicable policies and procedures
Reviewing and processing paperwork, forms, and/or other related items
Developing and implementing programs and workshops
Maintaining confidentiality
Resolving conflicts
Communications, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Responsibilities

Provide academic, career, and personal guidance to students.
Research academic, career, and personal information necessary to support student needs, while compiling and providing internal and external resources.
Ensure the safety of student records and other information by filing documentation in the proper areas, both physically and through various software programs.
Determine if student information should be shared to outside constituents, as needed.
Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
Performing academic advising
Providing transfer and/or career guidance
Providing personal support
Preparing presentations
Providing basic financial aid information
Connecting students to campus resources
Informing students of options and possible consequences of academic decisions, such as adding, dropping, and withdrawing from courses
