About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide general education and specific program advisement to students majoring in the Dumke College of Health Professions. The person ultimately selected for this position will focus a great deal on retention issues and those programs utilized by the college and university designed for this purpose (Hobson's Starfish). The selected person will liaison with university advising and support the college's overall advisement mission. The selected individual will assume full or shared, responsibility for retention initiatives in the Dumke College of Health Professions. These initiatives may include: serving as the Hobson Starfish Retention software point person for the college; attending training sessions on the software; conveying questions and concerns about Starfish processes to and from the Student Success Center and college; contacting incoming first-year students; contacting current students who have not enrolled for an upcoming semester; proactively reaching out to students with lower Starfish Student Success scores; determining interventions for students flagged in Starfish; following-up on progress surveys supplied by faculty members throughout the semester; participating in discussions about best metrics for determining how Starfish is working; contributing in other ways to the advising mission of the college's advising office; assisting with New Student Orientations (both in the college and university-wide); attending meetings of the university advisors' council and engaging in other professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • One year of full-time college employment experience, preferably in enrollment services (academic advisement, registration, admissions or financial aid), student services or the equivalent.

  • Experience working with Banner, Google Applications, or Site Manager.
