The Academic Advisor I position at the University of South Florida (USF) is a full-time role within the College of Public Health, specifically under the Office of Undergraduate Studies. This office serves as the central hub for all undergraduate academic functions, including student recruitment, advisement, monitoring student progress, and certification for graduation. The incumbent will report to the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Advising and will play a crucial role in guiding students through their academic journey, ensuring they are well-informed and supported in their decisions regarding course selection, academic schedules, and career goals. In this role, the Academic Advisor will be responsible for providing timely and accurate academic advising to undergraduate students who have declared a major within the College of Public Health. This includes making recommendations based on students' professional goals and previous academic performance to facilitate timely graduation. The advisor will also assist in the implementation of policies affecting advisement, readmission, and registration, working collaboratively with various departments and offices within USF. The position requires a commitment to working beyond normal business hours during peak times, such as registration and orientation, to meet the needs of students. The advisor will engage in outreach efforts, conduct group sessions, and utilize university systems to support students in achieving their academic goals. Additionally, the advisor will participate in recruitment activities and contribute to retention programs aimed at enhancing student success within the college.
