The Academic Advisor I, USNCC position serves as a dedicated student advisor under the United States Naval Community College (USNCC) contract with ERAU to offer associate degrees within the College of Aviation and Arts and Science and potentially, the College of Business. The advisor will counsel students with academic advisement concerning degree curriculums, academic regulations, procedures, policies, interpretation of the Official Advising Report, program changes, transfer credit, advanced standing, and graduation requirements. Academic Advisors are responsible for monitoring student progress from the time of admission throughout graduation and during specific academic terms to provide guidance and assistance to students if they are having any issues. Develops personalized degree plans to counsel and assist students with registration and to ensure student persistence. Serves as the liaison between the student and USNCC, the Financial Aid Office, Military and Veteran Affairs, the Bookstore, Student Financial Services, the Registrar, and numerous other departments. Responsible for proactively communicating with students via phone, email, text/chat, and virtual meetings. Advisors will promote student/advisor appointments and student engagement at every opportunity. The USNCC advisor will collaborate with USNCC personnel including their Enrollment team, Success Coaches and USNCC’s Registrar to ensure student success and support retention. The advisor will coordinate any necessary updates required with the ERAU, USNCC Program Manager, and WW Advising Leadership. Advisor may be asked to unlock campus classroom (after hours) if Site Management is unavailable. The position requires independent judgment and decision-making and the utilization of resources in the assessment and resolution of student issues. Collects research and data on student trends about retention and academic success. Conducts detailed analyses of student academic records. Assists with coverage of student files when needed due to extended advisor personal leave. Advisors are expected to communicate with students proactively via phone, email, text/chat, and virtual meetings to promote student retention and maintain a high level of customer service.
