About The Position

Academic Services for Student-Athletes (ASSA) is offering an exciting opportunity to gain work experience as a full-time Assistant Academic Advisor. ASSA is a unit of Student Success & Well-being (SSWB), which provides academic support for student-athletes. Individuals interested in this position would have the opportunity to work with a highly competitive program, participate in trainings, and receive full-time experience to sharpen your skills as an athletic academic advisor. The position is for the Summer 2026, Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters, and will be working with Olympic Sports. Responsibilities: Meet with assigned students weekly, assisting with academic progress monitoring and planning. Assist students with academic skill development. Assist advisors with daily tasks such as compiling reports (study hall, grades, eligibility, class schedules, class checking report). Assist with recruiting. Monitor team study halls. Participate in bi-weekly trainings relevant to academic advising and learning specialist responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • Applicant must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer, as sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two years of experience working directly with student-athletes.
  • Demonstrated background in mentoring and advising students in academic or athletic settings.
  • Prior experience supporting at‑risk or academically vulnerable student-athletes is preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred, or current enrollment in a master’s program beginning in Summer 2026 or Fall 2026.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong multitasking skills with the capacity to manage competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to identify problems and implement effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • State Benefits eligibility for OPS employees are subject to criteria established by the State of Florida. The state’s benefits administrator, People First, determines eligibility and coordinates enrollment.
