The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Academic Advisor, College of Liberal Arts, Wilson Advising Center [R0145111]. This is a full-time Academic Advisor position whose primary role will be to work with undergraduate students in the College of Liberal Arts from recruitment to graduation. This position exists in order to provide academic advising for all the major degree programs and minor programs offered within the College. In addition to working with current majors and minors, this position also works with prospective students, and advising appointments are conducted in person, via phone, email, web, and group settings. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: providing accurate information regarding degree requirements; developing an academic plan for each semester and evaluating degree progress; interpreting and articulating college and university policies and procedures; being knowledgeable of campus resources and providing appropriate referrals; interpreting and correcting degree audit reports; reviewing and articulating transfer coursework; assisting students with the processing of forms; maintaining accurate and detailed student records utilizing a variety of software programs; assisting with major confirmation, goal clarification, and career planning; conducting presentations for New Student Orientation and COLA 100LA First-year Seminar courses; participating in on-campus and off-campus college and university outreach and recruitment events; and conducting graduation checks for students who have formally applied for graduation. Responsibilities may require occasional evening and weekend work.
