About The Position

The BOOST Advisor supports the success, retention, and completion of students participating in NC BOOST, an associate degree completion program modeled after CUNY's Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP). BOOST is designed to help students graduate on time by addressing academic, financial, and personal barriers to success. The Advisor provides proactive, individualized academic and personal support to an assigned caseload of students, guiding them from enrollment through degree completion. Working as part of an integrated team, the Advisor collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and campus partners to help students stay on track, access resources, and achieve their educational goals. This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required. This is a time-limited grant funded position through July 2031. Continuation of position is contingent upon grant funds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of academic advising, student success coaching, or related experience.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of community college students, including first-generation and transfer learners.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated data literacy-ability to enter, monitor, and interpret student data accurately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; ability to learn new software systems quickly.
  • Proficiency in Self-Service, Colleague, and CRMs (preferably Slate).

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Counseling, Higher Education, Student Development, Social Work).
  • Prior experience with grant-funded student success initiatives, case management advising, or programs modeled on ASAP/ACE/BOOST principles in higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive academic and personal advisement to an assigned group of students through degree completion.
  • Review student progress, monitor academic standing, and track engagement with campus support services.
  • Co-develop success plans with students to address academic and personal challenges, clarify degree requirements, createcourse plans, register students, and set achievable goals.
  • Conduct proactive outreach (calls, emails, meetings) to ensure students remain engaged and connected to availablesupport.
  • Assist in the identification, recruitment, and contact of potentially program-eligible students or applicants.
  • Collaborate with faculty, Records Office, Financial Aid, and other campus departments to resolve barriers to student persistence and graduation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely advising notes, student records, and data tracking in college systems.
  • Recommend appropriate referrals to tutoring, counseling, career, or opportunity programs as needed.
  • Assist with orientation of new BOOST students.
  • Organize and participate in special events, workshops, and seminars focused on student success, career readiness, and college engagement.
  • Contribute to program assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide support to the program director as needed, to include recruitment, marketing assistance, information sessions, delivery of relevant professional development to CCCC faculty and staff, and related administrative assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure that students have a holistic, individualized, and consistent support throughout their college experience.
  • Respond in a timely and professional manner to student inquiries- phone, written, and personal conference.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Work virtually and during evening hours as needed.
  • Complete the annual five-hour staff development requirement.
  • Follow and support College activities, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned.
