About The Position

The position involves assisting students in achieving their educational goals by offering advisement, support, and interpretations of university policies and procedures. The role serves as a liaison to other departments on campus and provides special services to various student demographics including traditional, non-traditional, post-baccalaureate, transfer, new, and returning students. The advisor will provide holistic advisement regarding academic, career, and related matters, while establishing and maintaining contact with students to monitor their academic progress and eligibility for readmission, conditional, or transfer status. Additionally, the advisor will act as a liaison between students and various academic and non-academic departments, referring students to appropriate services when necessary. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate student records, generating reports, conducting academic workshops, facilitating the registration process, performing administrative duties, participating in committee assignments, and updating written materials for students.

Requirements

  • Requires a relevant Master's Degree.
  • Experience working with students and others in an educational or agency environment.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in academic advising and counseling in post-secondary/higher education.
  • Understanding of academic policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in achieving their educational goals by offering advisement, support, and interpretations of university policies and procedures.

  • Perform related administrative and advising duties including new student orientation.
  • Participate in departmental and University-wide committee assignments.
  • Update written material provided by departments and colleges for students.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Benefits

  • Minimum annual salary is $43,888 commensurate with experience.
  • Exempt status under FLSA.
