About The Position

The Cenovus Energy Lima Refinery is looking for an Area Business Team Technical Manager to provide strategic leadership to drive safe, reliable, and efficient performance across the assigned business area. This role partners closely with Operations and Maintenance to prioritize resources, deliver technical solutions, and support long‑term continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background, data‑driven decision‑making skills, and the ability to influence cross‑functional teams to achieve business goals. They will guide consistent management of people, equipment, and processes to improve asset reliability and overall profitability. Relocation to Lima, OH required.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field related to petroleum refining, or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years refining, petrochemical or relevant experience with 3+ years of leadership experience leadership experience with strong communication, organization, motivation, decision making and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the assigned business area, aligning strategies with division and department goals.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Business Team Leads to prioritize resources, resolve technical challenges, and drive long‑term continuous improvement that strengthens asset reliability and profitability.
  • Coordinate and guide technical staff by setting clear expectations, managing workflows, and fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.
  • Identify and mitigate operational, process safety, and environmental risks through evaluation of operating plans, risk reviews, and adherence to Integrity Operating Windows (IOWs) and Safe Operating Limits (SOLs).
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts by defining unit performance metrics, reviewing technical KPIs, and developing targeted action plans that enhance business performance.
  • Develop technical capability within the team by supporting training, participating in staffing and performance feedback processes, and providing coaching and mentorship to build long‑term expertise
