The Ability One Custodian will perform on-site custodial work as outlined in contract specifications. This position does allow for extra time on tasks and other forms of assistance when supported with documentation. Responsibilities include cleaning assigned indoor and outdoor work areas, which involves trash removal, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping/dust mopping, wet mopping, and disinfectant cleaning of restrooms. The custodian will also assist with periodical work such as stripping and sealing of floors, carpet cleaning, and window washing. The role requires the ability to learn and perform custodial procedures and techniques and to use light and heavy custodial equipment. Attendance at all required agency meetings and training sessions is mandatory. The custodian must understand and consistently follow all required safety procedures and policies, convey a positive and professional image to employees and customers, and relate to and understand the needs of disabled and disadvantaged individuals. Extra time, task reminders, flexible scheduling, and additional breaks are available to those with supporting documentation. The position requires the ability to work while standing for long periods and to lift and move up and down stairs. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
