Applied Behavior Analyst (ABA) Technician: ABA: Using the scientific method to make environmental modifications to change socially significant behaviors. A college degree is required Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is required Minimum of 6 months of prior supervision under a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Has experience working with students with significant behavioral issues with the goal of bringing meaningful and positive change in behavior. Has understanding of the underlying principles of Applied Behavior Analysis Uses principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to teach skills and/or replacement behaviors, and effectively decrease challenging behaviors Role of ABA Technician: Assist BCBA in creating program books Assists Learning Specialist, teachers and paras with consistent implementation of behavioral strategies including positive reinforcement, use of visual aids, de-escalation techniques, etc… Collect data-- this includes specialized data collection as determined by the BCBA (i.e. ABC data, time sampling, frequency, latency, product data) Graphing data on a consistent basis (e.g., at least weekly)- for students on their caseload Review data with BCBA and Learning Specialist weekly Monitors trends in the data and communicate issues to the BCBA and Learning Specialist Probes interventions/collects data on the effectiveness of interventions for the BCBA Implements and collecting data on discrete trial training Implements intensive behavior intervention plans and assists staff in consistently following behavior plans Assist in conducting functional analysis to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of behavioral strategies Create necessary materials (i.e. make token boards, visual rules, visual schedules, stimuli)
