About The Position

May Institute is excited to offer a paid internship experience for individuals interested in working with children with autism and developmental disabilities. Our methodology is based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), which focuses on improving specific behaviors such as social skills, communication, reading, and academics, as well as adaptive learning skills like fine motor dexterity, hygiene, grooming, domestic capabilities, punctuality, and job competence. This internship provides a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and broaden your knowledge in the field.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a bachelor's program
  • Availability to work a consistent schedule
  • Ability to attend in-person training as needed
  • Reliable transportation to and from the internship site
  • Personal housing (May Institute cannot assist with housing)

Responsibilities

  • Teach students academic, vocational, and daily living skills
  • Assist students' development during their school day in a 2:1 or 1:1 student to staff ratio
  • Implement individualized behavior support plans and participate in support meetings with clinical staff
  • Take, chart, and evaluate academic and behavioral data
  • Explore various career paths related to your degree
