About The Position

The Assistant Attorney General (AAG) in the Government Compliance and Enforcement Division's Regulatory and Enforcement Section will primarily represent the Gambling Commission in litigation matters, while also providing legal services to various state agencies. This role emphasizes teamwork, high-quality legal service, and work-life balance within a diverse and inclusive environment.

Requirements

  • Graduated from a law school accredited by the ABA or completed the WSBA's Rule 6 Law Clerk Program.
  • Licensed to practice law in Washington state or actively pursuing admission by motion.
  • Demonstrated commitment to public service.
  • Litigation experience at the administrative, state, and/or federal level.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Gambling Commission in litigation matters.
  • Draft pleadings and conduct legal research.
  • Interview witnesses and provide litigation-related advice to clients.
  • Evaluate cases for settlement possibilities and appear for hearings.
  • Serve as backup for other section clients, including various state commissions and boards.
