About The Position

National Aviation Services is looking for dependable, punctual, skilled, and detail-oriented A&P Mechanic to support our Exterior Aircraft Cleaning Operations at the SAT airport in San Antonio, TX. This role ensures that all aircraft washing, polishing, and detailing processes comply with regulatory guidelines and do not interfere with the integrity of the aircraft’s mechanical systems. Additionally, the mechanic will assist in lifting and lowering the wings as required during the cleaning process to ensure proper access and prevent structural strain. Requirements

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification (Required).
  • Minimum 2 years of aircraft maintenance experience, preferably in commercial or corporate aviation.
  • Experience with lifting/lowering aircraft wings safely per FAA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations related to aircraft maintenance and exterior cleaning practices.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and report potential mechanical or structural concerns.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must sign or clock in/out at the beginning and end of the scheduled shift.
  • Proper uniform attire is required when reporting to work.
  • Safety measures must always be taken including wearing mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during assigned shifts and as part of the uniform.
  • Adhere to rules and regulations outlined in Employee Handbook at all times.
  • Demonstrate respectful and helpful behavior to fellow employees, airline personnel, passengers, and other company employees working within the assigned area.
  • Must be capable of reading and understanding flight schedule(s).
  • Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable.
  • Must secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable.
  • A valid driver’s license is required by airport authority in order to operate a vehicle or equipment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, have access to reliable transportation, and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, lift, reach, and push for extended periods of time during the assigned shift
  • Walking and climbing up and down stairs is required to reach planes, access garbage disposal areas, and depart from planes throughout the shift.
  • Workspaces can be confined and small; must be able to work in tight spaces.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Exposure to inclement weather, including hot and cold temperatures, is common for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with aircraft maintenance software for documentation (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee exterior aircraft cleaning operations to ensure compliance with FAA, OSHA, and company standards.
  • Perform lifting and lowering of aircraft wings as necessary during the cleaning process, ensuring proper procedures are followed to prevent structural damage.
  • Inspect aircraft before and after cleaning to ensure no damage, contamination, or safety concerns arise.
  • Ensure proper handling and application of approved cleaning solutions, detergents, and degreasers to protect aircraft surfaces and components.
  • Assist with minor maintenance tasks that may arise during the cleaning process, such as checking fasteners, seals, and access panels.
  • Collaborate with cleaning teams to provide guidance on safe cleaning practices, including protecting sensitive aircraft components (e.g., pitot tubes, static ports, avionics).
  • Perform post-cleaning inspections to verify all protective covers have been removed, no residue remains on critical areas, and aircraft is airworthy.
  • Document and report any issues, discrepancies, or maintenance concerns identified during inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding waste disposal and chemical usage.
  • Train and mentor team members on best practices for aircraft cleaning and handling procedures.
  • Work closely with airline or operator maintenance teams to coordinate cleaning schedules and minimize aircraft downtime.
