About the position

As an A&P Mechanic V, you will be regarded as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and will be responsible for overseeing subordinate staff in repairs, replacement and maintenance of the key components of aircrafts. You'll supervise the necessary checks in regards to the mechanical and functional components of the aircraft, including the testing of and replacement of defective or faulty parts. You'll use a variety of tools and equipment to perform diagnosis on parts to be replaced, and ensure repairs and maintenance are compliant with national and international standards of work, all while maintaining safety and cleanliness of the hanger or workshop. You will demonstrate expert knowledge in the main components of aviation maintenance including airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, or Airframe & Power plant (A&P) components.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee subordinate staff in repairs, replacement, and maintenance of aircraft components.
  • Supervise necessary checks on mechanical and functional components of aircraft.
  • Test and replace defective or faulty parts.
  • Perform diagnosis on parts to be replaced using various tools and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards of work.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of the hanger or workshop.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and typically 15 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior FAA violations.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English.
  • Proficiency in repairing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
  • Must pass written, oral, and practical assessments.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations.
  • Pass and maintain physical requirements to deploy.

Nice-to-haves

  • FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience.
  • Inspection Authorization (IA) Designation.
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends.
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS).
  • Prior experience in a Lead role; ability to mentor, train, guide, and inspect the work of subordinates.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Ability to deploy for a minimum of 90 days to OCONUS operating location.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, holidays, and shift schedules as required.
