About The Position

Airframe and Powerplant Instructor Thrust Institute of Maintenance (TIM) is seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Instructor to join our esteemed faculty team. As an A&P Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of aviation by imparting your expertise and passion for aircraft maintenance to aspiring professionals. Teaching & Professional Obligations: Interacting with students to provide opportunities to learn, creating conditions that facilitate learning, and using techniques and methods that create a high probability that learning will occur. Instructional Delivery: Providing clear communication of information and promoting learning through an effective learning environment. Instructional Design: Designing, sequencing, implementing, and presenting experiences which promote student learning, and designing, developing, and implementing tools, technologies, and procedures for assessing student-learning outcomes. Collaborate in the development and implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments of learning for students. Provide effective and high-quality instruction of subject being taught. Apply learning-centered educational practices such as creating and communicating clearly-defined outcomes for student learning. Provide a diverse array of learning activities that directly tie to those defined outcomes. Use assessment data to improve instruction and learning, and participate in an ongoing Campus-Wide dialogue about teaching and learning. Develop and refine department curriculum as necessary to maintain currency in pedagogy and content Adopt new teaching methodologies as appropriate. Implement department, division, and/or institutional goals as assigned. Maintain office hours, turn in grades on time, meet assigned classes. Submits course syllabi and other required documents on time. Manages the classroom facility. Keeps accurate attendance and grade records. Other Duties as Assigned Scholarly & Creative Activities (Professional Development) Endeavors related to a faculty member’s teaching assignment that contribute to the discovery, dissemination, and practical application of knowledge and/or skill. Acquire and/or maintain certification. Attend conferences, workshops, and/or training appropriate to one’s field. Complete coursework related to one’s teaching assignment. Create teaching methodology and instructional design. Other activities that contribute to keeping current in the content field. Helping the school meet the goals and objectives of its mission and strategic plan. Provide competent advising to students seeking program certificates. Fulfill school service requirements by making meaningful contributions on campus and/or to community service groups. Participate in institutional and departmental recruitment and retention activities. Assist in the evaluation and selection of textbooks and other resources and materials in one’s assigned area. Serve on department, division, and institutional committees. Assist in program and curriculum review, revision, and the development and assessment of learning. Maintain classrooms and/or labs. Requirements

One (1) year of teaching experience at a FAA Part 147 Aircraft Maintenance Training School or an Aviation CTE Program or Military Aircraft Maintenance Training Program
Shall hold or qualify for a full-time, post-secondary vocational credential in Aviation issued by Aims Community College CTE Office. Contact Landon Loyd for the application at [email protected]. This will require at least two (2) years (4,000 hours) of approved experience in Aviation. The preference is 8,000 – 10,000 hours of work experience or a combination of work and teaching experience.
Hold a current FAA Part 65 Airframe and Powerplant certificate
Ability to teach using methodologies that support a student-centered learning environment
Computer literacy and the ability to use computer technology in classroom/lab instruction
A willingness to take classes in teaching methods, curriculum development, computer applications or other coursework deemed necessary by the A&P Chief, Executive Director, or Academic Dean
A positive attitude toward teaching courses in varied modalities, including online, synchronous remote and traditional face-to-face

Nice To Haves

Associate's Degree in Aviation Maintenance or another related field
