About The Position

Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security. The Aircraft Maintenance and Systems Technician will be responsible for fabrication, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and modifications on aircraft airframe, systems, and components. The candidate should thrive in a high paced environment and be comfortable with the design, development, and test life cycle of rapid aerospace R&D. As Stratolaunch expands our program base this person may be tasked to other, new projects and in the development of vehicles requiring the skills, knowledge and abilities utilized on this current project.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in aircraft systems troubleshooting, fabrication, installation and maintenance preferred.
  • Experience with line maintenance functions to include preflight, post flight, launch, and recovery of aircraft.
  • Experience fabricating, maintaining, replacing, or modifying aircraft structure or sub-systems such as sheet metal experience; bending, riveting, fasteners, treatment of metal, or changing large LRU’s & subsystems components.
  • Strong understanding and discipline in FOD and tool control.
  • Detail oriented with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve problems and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently when needed, responsible, and take the initiative to help train/mentor direct team members.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • IA (Preferred but not required).
  • Flight line or flight test experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Installation, testing and maintenance of aircraft systems and components with typically zero workmanship defects including but not limited to fuel systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical/avionics systems, engine systems, and airframe structures.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance operations on aircraft to include inspections, repairs, Airworthiness directives, modifications and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of aircraft systems, components, and structures to identify any issues or potential problems.
  • Perform all line maintenance functions to include preflight, post flight, launch, and recovery of aircraft.
  • Ensure proper and timely entry of maintenance performed in the Aircraft Maintenance Discrepancy Log (MDL).
  • Operate all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignments with an expert level of proficiency.
  • Maintain aircraft in accordance with work instructions, the inspection plan and adhere to established standards such as AC 43-13, technical manuals, blueprints, or sketches for acceptable systems installation methods, techniques, and practices.
  • Interpret and follow electrical schematics for the installation of avionics components.
  • Operate-related ground handling equipment utilized to service the aircraft when required.
  • Work in confined spaces or heights greater than 25 feet as required.
  • Effectively communicate and partner with Engineering to solve design/installation problems, reduce defects, and improve build time.
  • Perform in the capacity of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) applying expertise obtained through deep and broad industry knowledge.
