The Host-Based Security Systems (HBSS) Engineer and Administrator will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of networked systems at the Washington Navy Yard. This position involves working collaboratively within a team to install, configure, and maintain HBSS and its associated components. The engineer will be responsible for evaluating and recommending new technologies to enhance the capabilities of existing systems, ensuring that they meet current security standards and operational requirements. In this role, the engineer will manage the installation and configuration of the Host-Based Security System (HBSS) and its associated agents and endpoint products. This includes creating, deploying, and managing custom HBSS signatures and policies, as well as monitoring the system for intrusions, failures, and other operational issues. The engineer will also be tasked with ensuring that all clients and servers are operational and reporting correctly, providing system requirements development, and conducting advanced technical analyses of network challenges. The engineer will be expected to conduct thorough analyses of malicious events, understand exploits and vulnerabilities, and create custom signature rule sets as necessary. Detailed reporting on system status, module deployments, and event trends will be a key responsibility, along with troubleshooting local and remote installations of HBSS components. The engineer will also be responsible for installing updates to Trellix software in compliance with STIG requirements and deploying, maintaining, and tuning Trellix Endpoint Security Suite (ESS) HBSS products to meet current and future standards.
