About The Position

Perform semi-skilled work with oversight to accomplish work to remove and replace aircraft components to perform routine servicing and non-routine maintenance on aircrafts. Understudy to skilled Mechanic when performing maintenance related tasks. Reads and complies with instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience providing knowledge of aircraft maintenance work techniques, terminology, parts, etc.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Works safely and follow safety rules and regulations.
  • Reports unsafe working conditions and behavior.
  • Takes reasonable prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
  • Adheres to Flightstar’s SMS safety culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with 14 CFR Part 91/121 or 145 preferred.
  • Individuals who desire to be successful Aircraft Mechanics should consistently pursue an A& P certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable in basic aviation including: components and zones of the aircraft, LOTO, PPE, Haz Waste, proper use of GSE and other regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates ability to use basic hand tools or basic equipment provided.
  • Demonstrates ability to prepare, read and maintain FAS and customer records such as work order documentation, i.e. identification tags, serviceable/unserviceable tags, routine and non-routine documents as instructed.
  • Identifies, removes, and installs inspection access panels.
  • Removes and replaces aircraft components as assigned.
  • Performs routine servicing of engines and aircraft accessories.
  • Performs work actions as instructed in the jacking and leveling of aircraft.
  • Reads maintenance manuals to identify and locate aircraft components on the aircraft, and accurately implements instructions of maintenance manuals.
  • Performs aircraft lubrication tasks.
  • Removes and replaces filters, and performs leak checks.
  • Using basic hand tools or basic equipment provided performs semi-skilled manual and technical work as instructed.
  • Lifts and carries hand tools and work materials, ascends and descends ladders and platforms, and frequently works in a variety of positions such as stooping, kneeling or squatting.
  • Follows safety procedures and wears/uses appropriate safety equipment for the work being performed.
  • Reads instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work. Communicates effectively in English regarding work activities, per FAA requirements.
  • Prepares and maintains simple records such as work order/task card documentation, logs, and time and material records, as instructed.
  • Participates in On-the-Job Training (OJT) and pursues skills proficiency and sign off as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
