About The Position

The Transplant, Business Operations Director is a pivotal role within the VCU Health System, specifically overseeing the Cellular Immunotherapies and Transplant (CIT) program or the Hume-Lee Transplant Center. This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the daily operations of various transplant services, including kidney, liver, heart, lung, and pancreas transplantation, as well as HLA services and total pancreatectomy with islet auto transplantation (TPIAT). The Director's primary goal is to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective patient care while aligning with the organizational mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the hospital. In this role, the Director will consult with Clinical Program Directors, the Associate Vice President and Chair of Transplant Services, and the Senior Vice-President of the Massey Cancer Service Line to develop, implement, and administer policies and procedures that achieve both short- and long-range goals for all programs. This includes the development and approval of annual operating personnel and capital budgets, monitoring financial performance, and explaining variances in monthly responsibility reports. The Director will also be involved in the hiring, counseling, and evaluation of assigned personnel, ensuring that the team operates effectively and efficiently. The Director will lead the development and implementation of transplant programs by advising the hospital on necessary program changes, benchmarking against national standards, and overseeing Medicare cost reporting and billing/reimbursement aspects of the program. Additionally, the Director will spearhead marketing initiatives to promote the transplant programs, including the creation of brochures, written materials, and participation in conventions and conferences. Serving as a liaison with professional and community organizations, the Director will engage in board and committee activities, make presentations, and ensure consistent and accurate documentation of programs and patient data across various organizations involved in the transplant network.
