The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is seeking candidates for a full-time post-doctoral position as a collaborative pianist/coach within the Chamber and Collaborative Music Department. This position is non-tenure track and is set to commence on January 1, 2025, continuing through May 31, 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in a variety of duties that will be tailored to their specific interests and areas of expertise. Responsibilities will include performing as a collaborative partner with faculty, guest artists, and students, as well as coaching collaborative projects that involve piano students and their assigned partners. This role is pivotal in contributing to the development of the newly established Chamber and Collaborative Music Department, which was created in the fall semester of 2016. Candidates must possess a completed doctorate in collaborative piano or equivalent training from an academic institution outside the United States by the time of appointment. Those with a doctoral degree in piano performance will also be considered, provided they have substantial collaborative experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong record of artistic accomplishment, exceptional technical keyboard skills, and fluency in sight-reading. Additionally, the ability to coach pianists in collaborative settings, along with a lively intellectual and musical curiosity, and good organizational skills, are essential for success in this role. The position offers a salary of $45,000, along with an annual research and travel budget of $2,000, and eligibility for health and retirement benefits available to all full-time faculty at Indiana University.
