About The Position
The Loudoun County Department of Family Services is seeking a Public Benefits Program Manager to oversee and enhance the delivery of public assistance programs to residents of Loudoun County. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the department meets its mission of supporting individuals and families in achieving health, safety, and overall well-being. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public assistance programs and will be responsible for managing a team of approximately 30 staff members. This includes conducting regular performance evaluations, promoting staff development, and developing and monitoring internal operating procedures and policies that enhance program operations. As the Public Benefits Program Manager, you will manage various public benefits programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medical Assistance Programs, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Refugee Cash Assistance, Energy Assistance Programs, and Title IV-E Foster Care programs. Your responsibilities will include assessing the effectiveness, efficiency, outcomes, and quality of these programs, setting goals, and evaluating performance measures to improve the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of federally and state-mandated programs. Additionally, you will manage the unit's budget and ensure appropriate fund allocation within established guidelines. This position requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as you will represent the agency and county in meetings with public and private community partners, local jurisdictions, state and regional organizations, and national organizations. The successful candidate will thrive in a diverse, fast-paced, and high-volume work environment, demonstrating strong analytical abilities to evaluate facts and data for sound decision-making. You will also need to establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers, colleagues, staff, community partners, and the public.
