About The Position

The City of Leawood, Kansas is seeking dedicated individuals to join their team as 911 Emergency Dispatch Officers. This role is crucial for the communications operations of the Police Department, where officers will handle emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch police units, and provide vital support to the community. The position requires working in a fast-paced environment, making quick decisions, and being flexible with shift schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a Communications Officer, Police Dispatch, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Knowledge or prior use of NCIC/REJIS, Niche RMS, and Hexagon CAD systems preferred.
• Ability to become NCIC certified within six months of hire.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in emergency dispatching or public safety communications.
• Familiarity with police procedures and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Receive all incoming 9-1-1 emergency calls and non-emergency dispatch calls.
• Retrieve pertinent information from each call and accurately communicate it to officers in the field.
• Conduct record checks on individuals, vehicles, licenses, and weapons using various computer databases.
• Complete, update, and maintain department paperwork and forms accurately.
• Monitor and share information from public safety radio channels and surveillance camera feeds.
• Process cancellations and warrants for the Leawood Municipal Court.
