About The Position
The position involves receiving requests for calls for Police, Fire and Rescue assistance, both emergency and non-emergency. The dispatcher determines the nature of the call and the location, dispatching the appropriate personnel and equipment. Additionally, the dispatcher provides pre-arrival instructions for Fire and Rescue medical calls and operates Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and other computer systems that handle confidential information. The role also includes dispatching personnel and equipment for other City departments such as Public Works, Utilities, and Social Services. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
