About The Position

Join Hood River County as a 911 Emergency Dispatcher, responsible for monitoring telephones and radio communications in the dispatch center. This role involves answering incoming calls, gathering necessary information, and dispatching emergency response vehicles. The dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring timely communication during emergencies and coordinating with various local agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor telephones and radio in the dispatch center.
  • Answer all incoming calls and ascertain the nature of the call.
  • Gather necessary information to transmit or relay to emergency responders.
  • Dispatch police and other response vehicles for emergency responses.
  • Broadcast the nature, location, and time of incidents.
  • Contact required personnel and local agencies, such as the fire department, during emergencies.
  • Ensure the presence of reserve units by contacting personnel designated for call-back.
  • Relay information as required.
