About The Position

Alma School District is seeking a passionate and qualified High School Spanish Teacher to provide engaging, standards-based instruction for students in grades 9–12. The ideal candidate will foster a positive learning environment, promote cultural awareness, and support students in developing proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish in alignment with Arkansas Academic Standards. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, World Languages, Education, or related field
  • Valid Arkansas Teaching License in Spanish or qualifies for an Additional Licensure Plan approved by DESE
  • Experience teaching at the high school level
  • Knowledge of second-language acquisition strategies and instructional best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Spanish
  • Experience with Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish courses
  • Familiarity with ACTFL proficiency guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Arkansas Academic Standards for World Languages
  • Teach Spanish I, II, and AP courses if assigned
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and respectful communication
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
  • Integrate technology and digital resources to enhance language acquisition
  • Assess student progress regularly using formative and summative assessments
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
  • Participate in professional development and faculty meetings
  • Sponsor or support extracurricular activities (e.g., Spanish Club) as appropriate
  • Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal policies
