About The Position

The 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher at Asheville Middle School is responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting instruction that helps students learn subject matter and skills contributing to their educational and social development. The teacher may coordinate and direct the activities of the teacher assistant and reports to the principal. The position is full-time and requires a valid NC teaching license.

Requirements

• Must be a graduate from a 4-year accredited college education program or have alternative qualifications approved by the State Board of Education.
• Valid NC Teaching License required.

Responsibilities

• Manage instructional time effectively by preparing materials and getting students on task quickly.
• Establish rules and procedures for student behavior and participation.
• Present lessons clearly, using understandable concepts and language.
• Monitor student performance and provide timely feedback.
• Facilitate instruction by aligning objectives with student needs and maintaining accurate records.
• Interact fairly and effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and the community.
• Create a culturally diverse learning environment.
• Perform related duties as assigned by the principal.
