About The Position

Primary Purpose: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in Reading and Language Arts to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop literacy competencies, critical thinking skills, written and oral communication skills, and comprehension strategies necessary to function successfully in society. Provide effective instruction for all students, including English Learners, through implementation of ESL strategies and language acquisition best practices.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements in English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR)
Valid ESL certification (required)
Demonstrated competency in Reading and Language Arts
Knowledge of Reading and Language Arts curriculum and instruction
Knowledge of second language acquisition and ESL instructional strategies
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including English Learners
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to analyze and use student performance data to inform instruction
Student teaching, or related work experience
