About the position

The Chief of RA Operations position is a high-level managerial role within the Reemployment Assistance (RA) program of the Department of Florida Commerce. The incumbent will report to the Deputy Director for Reemployment Assistance Services and will utilize analytical skills and independent judgment to perform complex planning, research, consultative, and administrative work. The role involves identifying, analyzing, and resolving policy and operational issues, establishing national best practices, and ensuring coordination and efficiency in service delivery. The position requires the management of special projects, preparation of management reports, and presentations on initiatives and process improvements. The incumbent will also lead strategic planning efforts, review proposed legislation, and formulate internal policies that significantly impact the RA Program.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex planning, research, consultative, and administrative work.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve policy and operational issues.
  • Establish national best practices within the Reemployment Assistance Program.
  • Coordinate, track, and manage special projects.
  • Prepare interim management reports on special projects.
  • Create presentations and present on special projects and process improvements.
  • Contribute information and recommendations to strategic plans.
  • Assist with the procurement process and implement production, quality, and customer-service standards.
  • Lead long-range strategic planning efforts.
  • Review and analyze proposed legislation and administrative rules affecting the RA Program.
  • Formulate internal policies and legislative proposals.

Requirements

  • Level 2 security background screening required.
  • Duties must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
  • Travel may be required.

  • Public speaking experience.
  • A college degree from an accredited college or university.
