About The Position

The 7th Grade Science Teacher position is designed to provide students with engaging learning activities that promote their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The role involves developing and implementing effective teaching strategies, maintaining records, and fostering a positive learning environment. This position is contracted for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year, with potential for renewal if tied to coaching responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in the appropriate content area.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals and professional journals.
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various stakeholders.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans for curriculum program with effective teaching strategies.
  • Select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet student needs.
  • Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and school policies.
  • Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with student capabilities.
  • Plan and implement instruction that adheres to district goals and objectives.
  • Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment and materials.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Maintain regular, on-time attendance.
  • Keep current in subject matter knowledge and share for curriculum improvement.
  • Encourage student enthusiasm for learning and good study habits.
  • Provide progress and interim reports as required.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities.
  • Present a positive role model supporting the school's mission.
  • Provide an environment conducive to students' development.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and discipline techniques.
  • Take precautions to protect students and materials.
  • Assist in selecting instructional materials.
  • Communicate positively with students, parents, staff, and community.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and community members.
  • Participate in professional development programs.
  • Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.
  • Comply with state, district, and school regulations for teachers.
  • Compile and maintain required reports and records.
  • Attend staff and committee meetings as required.
  • Prepare and administer various teaching techniques to present subject matter.
  • Utilize technology and audiovisual aids in teaching.
  • Prepare, administer, and correct tests, and record results.
  • Assign lessons, correct papers, and hear oral presentations.
  • Teach rules of conduct and social skills.
  • Counsel students with adjustment and academic problems.
  • Discuss students' academic and behavioral attitudes with parents.
  • Maintain grade and attendance records as required.
  • Coordinate class field trips.
  • Maintain order and discipline in the classroom and playground.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal.
