About The Position

The 7th Grade Integrated Science Teacher at Glendale Middle School is responsible for planning and delivering instruction that meets state and district curricula while addressing the diverse needs of students. The role emphasizes creating a positive learning environment, utilizing effective teaching strategies, and monitoring student progress to foster academic growth.

Requirements

  • Valid Professional Utah Secondary Educator License with a Science Core (6-8) endorsement or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Professional speaking abilities and empathic listening skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish speaker with proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding spoken Spanish.
  • ESL endorsement or willingness to obtain one within 4 years of hire.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Experience with grade level/content PLCs and data analysis for instructional practices.
  • Knowledge of effective teaching practices for English Language Learners and special needs students.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare developmentally appropriate and challenging learning experiences.
  • Develop culturally relevant lessons based on individual students' strengths and needs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Utah Core Standards in planning.
  • Incorporate disciplinary-specific literacy skills into instruction.
  • Establish a positive classroom climate that supports self-directed learning.
  • Utilize positive classroom management strategies effectively.
  • Base instruction on accurate content knowledge and appropriate academic language.
  • Employ a range of instructional strategies to engage learners.
  • Provide opportunities for students to develop higher-order and meta-cognitive skills.
  • Support English language development through various communication skills.
  • Use technology and resources to enhance learning.
  • Assess student learning using formative and summative data sources.
  • Document student progress and provide feedback to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with families and colleagues to promote student growth.
  • Engage in professional development and reflective practice.
  • Advocate for students and comply with educational standards and policies.
