We seek an educator with a passion for teaching and working with children, especially those of middle-school age, a demonstrated enthusiasm for the study of English, and who places students at the heart of their instructional practice. This position represents an opportunity to shape the foundational literacy and critical thinking skills of students at a pivotal stage in their intellectual and social-emotional development. In this role, you will guide students through an exploration of English and Language Arts that emphasizes vocabulary enrichment, literature appreciation, grammar usage, creative writing, and writing mechanics. You will employ the writing process framework to develop students' capacity for crafting well-structured essays and thoughtful written responses. Throughout the year, you will cultivate critical thinking skills through sustained literary analysis, helping students learn to question, interpret, and construct meaning from texts. Being a teacher here means stepping far beyond the smartboard and supervision duties. You'll serve as an advisor , mentoring a small group of students, guiding lessons, and serving on the front lines of academic and social support. You'll participate on overnight Trojan Outdoor Experience ( TOE ) trips for your grade level, with the opportunity to get to know students beyond the classroom setting. Faculty stay onsite in tents or cabins, sharing in the same experience as our students. Coaching opportunities and sponsoring extracurricular activities are also a powerful way to invest in our students. Your steady presence on the sidelines and in auditoriums cheering on our students will contribute to connection and success within a classroom context.. TVS Middle School Team The TVS Middle School strives to create a nurturing educational experience that meets the unique social, emotional, and cognitive needs of middle school students while fostering creative problem solving, innovative thinking, and community connection each and every day. The Middle School is much more than a bridge between Lower and Upper School.
