About The Position

As a Middle School Math Teacher’s Assistant at Sunnyside Middle School , you’ll play a vital role in supporting Grades 6–8 classrooms through consistent, in-class academic support. This role focuses on push-in classroom support during Math instruction , helping students strengthen foundational skills, build confidence in problem-solving, and stay engaged throughout the school day.

Requirements

• Passionate about supporting middle school students’ academic growth in Math.
• Reliable, professional, and committed to showing up every day.
• Strong communicators and collaborative team players.
• Experienced with children (formally or informally) — school experience preferred, but training is provided.
• Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s degree in Education, Math, or a related field.
• Able to adapt to different learning environments and student needs.
• Cleared (or eligible for clearance) through DOE PETS background check and fingerprinting.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide push-in classroom support during Math instruction.
• Support teachers in delivering engaging, standards-aligned lessons.
• Offer one-on-one and small group academic support to students.
• Reinforce foundational math skills, problem-solving strategies, and conceptual understanding.
• Help manage classroom routines and foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
• Assist with organizing materials and preparing instructional resources.
• Monitor student progress and share observations with teachers and staff.
• Collaborate with educators to meet student learning needs.
• Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.
