About The Position

The work involves responsibility for administering the local recycling program by developing, planning and implementing policies and activities that ensure public participation in recycling in Onondaga County. Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, an employee in this class will recommend policies and standards through research and analysis to secure the collection and processing of mandatory recyclables in the county. Additionally, this position will oversee activities of two county compost sites. The incumbent also monitors and coordinates all recycling public education initiatives in the county. Does related work as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree in Environmental Studies or Natural Science and four years of professional level work experience in resource recovery or solid waste management.
  • Eight years of paraprofessional or professional level work experience in resource recovery or solid waste management, four years of which must have been professional level work experience.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of the above.
