About The Position

INTERMEDIATE, JR. HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL BAND TEACHER NCA is a Christian College Preparatory School serving grades Jr.K-12. All qualifying candidates must support the mission statement: "New Covenant Academy is a Christian college preparatory school committed to achieving Academic Excellence, teaching Biblical Truth, and developing Christ-like character". New Covenant Academy is seeking qualified candidates to teach part-time, three sections of band (6 th grade band, Jr. High Band and High School Band). The individual will work at two campus locations: 1) Warrior Campus location 3304 S. Cox Ave., Springfield, MO. And 2) Liberty Campus 3581 S. Kansas Ave., Springfield (locations are less than a mile from each other). This position can become full-time if the applicant has the qualifications to act as an accompanist for our choirs . This position begins August 2026 through May 2027. The contract is renewable annually based on board approval. JOB SUMMARY The role of the teacher is to engage and inspire students to learn the subject matter and impart skills and attitudes that will positively contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women. The teacher will integrate Biblical principles throughout the curriculum, and plan and implement a course of study to meet the individual needs of students, prepare and submit lesson plans, and assess student progress while demonstrating their own mastery of the subject matter taught. The teacher must also communicate and collaborate effectively with parents, students, administration, and faculty for the success of each student Instructional - Must plan, instruct, and direct students in approximately 3-4 concerts per school year (Christmas, Spring Concert, Grandparent’s Day and Annual Banquet) as well as prepare students for misc. performances as needed. For secondary level students, must be familiar with all MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association) requirements for competition and prepare students for musical competition ensembles, solo and large group. Must also plan for and be available to take high school students on designated special trips for competition or performance. Full job description provided upon interview.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates must have a valid Missouri (or from another state within the U.S.) Teaching Certificate and hold an appropriate endorsement in the areas of instruction with a minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in the area of teaching.
  • Candidates must have a Christian testimony reflected in a daily walk that exemplifies the Christian faith and must demonstrate evidence of regeneration and dedication to the cause of Christ and have an expressed desire (call) to work in a Christian school.

  • Have a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Have a Christian testimony reflected in a daily walk that allows being a true example to all students.

  • Be active in a local body of believers and should be faithful in reading God’s Word and daily prayer.
  • Agree fully and without reservation with the school’s Statement of Faith.
