About The Position

The role of the Elementary School Teacher, K-5, is to build relationships effectively and professionally with families and students. This position requires a proven ability to develop and maintain a safe place for learning and growth by developing and incorporating an approved, age-appropriate curriculum through effective oral and written communication skills. This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and will possess and maintain, or be actively engaged in obtaining, the proper license(s) required by the State of Utah and the Board of Trustees. Attendance at scheduled staff meetings and workshops and preparation for classes is mandatory and not considered overtime. Employees contracted work time is 7:30 am to 3:00 p.m. and will work 185 days during the contract period. This position reports directly to the Principal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Education or related field
  • Certified Teacher in the State of Utah

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and at the school
  • Use and follow the provided curriculm with fidelity.
  • Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
  • Deliver engaging, impactful, and effective tier I instruction.
  • Develop curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities utilizing various curriculum resources.
  • Administer regular assessments and adjust instruction based on data.
  • Provide Tier II instruction for students in need.
  • Implement technology in lessons and as part of the daily curriculum.
  • Prepare students for standardized tests required by the state.
  • Prepare lesson materials, grade papers, manage the classroom, and evaluate and give feedback to students
  • Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff
  • Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements regularly and provide progress reports as required
  • Create and keep records on attendance, accidents, incidents, and other noteworthy events following licensing guidelines and program policies by updating and utilizing Educator’s Handbook.
  • Manage student behavior following outlined guidelines and Lincoln Academy Policies
  • Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions, PLC’s and professional development.
  • Maintain current grades and post weekly updates for students and parents.
  • Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
  • Tutor students on an individual basis as needed.
  • Participate in the overall growth mindset of Lincoln Academy by being positive and open-minded with peer groups, co-workers, operational teams, administration, and the Board of Trustees.
  • Prepare and distribute required reports to the administration team as requested and on time.
  • Utilize an effective classroom management system to actively reinforce appropriate student behaviors.
  • Be a model of ethical behavior and integrity as a member of the Lincoln Academy team.
  • Attend twice yearly parent teacher conferences.
  • Drop a student to level 2 behavior
  • Contact parents regarding grade or behavior issues
  • Provide accommodations for students
  • Modify lessons because students are not getting it
  • Modify class schedule for a day because of interruptions or unique circumstances
  • Modify classroom desk setup
  • Submit a ticket
  • Submit student for counseling or BCBA for immediate needs
  • Classroom reward system
  • Purchase supplies with sponsor funds
  • Citizenship grades following the rubric
  • Call parents if a student is sick
  • Spending sponsor funds
  • Get field trip drivers
  • Confirm field trip drivers are approved
