Job SummarySt. Anthony Catholic Church is seeking a knowledgeable, faith-filled, and mission-driven 7th–8th Grade Social Studies Teacher to join our school community. This position is responsible for providing engaging instruction in history, geography, civics, and related disciplines while fostering a classroom environment rooted in curiosity, respect, and Catholic values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid Missouri teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
  • Experience teaching middle school students or working with adolescents preferred.
  • Strong understanding of social studies curriculum, instructional strategies, and adolescent development.
  • Excellent classroom-management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
  • Must meet Archdiocesan requirements, including Safe Environment training and background screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience teaching middle school students or working with adolescents preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging social studies lessons for 7th and 8th grade students aligned with school and Archdiocesan curriculum standards.
  • Create a structured and positive classroom environment that promotes curiosity, discussion, and active participation.
  • Integrate Catholic teachings and values into classroom discussions and historical perspectives when appropriate.
  • Develop lessons incorporating primary sources, project-based learning, and inquiry-based instruction.
  • Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Maintain accurate records including lesson plans, grades, and student progress reports.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents, faculty, and administration regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Supervise students during transitions and other assigned duties as needed.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff on curriculum planning, interdisciplinary learning opportunities, and school initiatives.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating Catholic values and contributing to the faith life of the school community.
