About the position
The Lecturer in Mathematics position at Southern Methodist University is a non-tenure-track, full-time role focused on teaching undergraduate mathematics courses. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to education and will have a teaching load of seven courses per academic year, spanning both the Fall and Spring semesters. The position is set to begin in the Fall semester of 2025, and candidates with a Ph.D. in mathematics or a related field are preferred, although exceptional candidates with an M.S. will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Teach seven undergraduate mathematics courses per academic year during Fall and Spring semesters.
- Develop and implement course materials and assessments.
- Provide academic support and guidance to students.
- Engage in pedagogical development and improvement of teaching methods.
- Participate in departmental meetings and activities.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in mathematics or a related field by the time of appointment (M.S. candidates may be considered if exceptional).
- Strong commitment to teaching and education.
- Ability to teach a range of undergraduate math courses.
