The Jr. Alarm System Technician performs a variety of security systems installation, maintenance, modification, and repair work. This includes repairing access control, CCTV, electronic devices, and alarm systems, as well as testing security systems hardware using special testing equipment. The technician is responsible for correcting malfunctions to restore equipment to established standards, making emergency repairs, and installing and relocating security systems equipment. The role also involves maintaining records of installed equipment, operating power tools, and performing physical inventories of security systems equipment. The technician must distinguish colors to identify color-coded cables and electronic components, move electronic equipment weighing up to 70 pounds, and clean security systems equipment and work areas. Regular attendance and the ability to work all scheduled hours, including overtime, are required, along with a willingness to work rotating on-call shifts.

  • Perform skilled technical work in the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and testing of access control, CCTV, and security systems hardware and software.
  • Install, maintain, repair, and test data cable and wiring, electronic door locks, access card readers, door position switches, request to exit detectors, CCTV cameras, and other security systems related hardware.
  • Test security systems hardware and correct malfunctions to restore equipment to established standards.
  • Work with data, alarm, and monitoring circuits.
  • Conduct research and analyze test measurements.
  • Evaluate present systems and recommend system expansion, modification, and replacement.
  • Meet scheduling and attendance requirements.
  • High school diploma/GED required; Associate's degree in a business-related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years' experience in the installation and maintenance of security systems and equipment.
  • Must possess a valid DCJS registration for Electronic Security Technician or verifiable eligibility (no felonies).
  • Knowledge of Access Control, CCTV & Alarm Systems.
  • Must be able to safely transport and operate company-owned electric scissor lift/trailer.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • +3 or more VA Safe driving points with no outstanding or pending traffic violations.
  • Ability to travel and work out of town if needed.
  • Capable of lifting at least 75lbs.
  • Must be able to climb and handle ladders on a regular basis.
  • Must be willing to work all shifts and be available for rotating on-call shifts.
  • Must be comfortable working evening shifts in retail environments as needed.
  • Ability to function well in a team environment.
  • Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers at all times.
