About The Position

Since 1948 Acme Industries has been providing high-quality precision manufacturing serving areas in the aerospace and defense, power generation, mining, transportation, and a wide range of other sectors. We are seeking experienced Okuma 5-axis Machinists to join our team on our 1st and 2nd shifts. Our 2nd shift receives a 10% shift differential (in addition to hourly rate). The position: We are seeking experienced Okuma 5-axis Machinists to operate our CNC machines utilizing the OSP-P300 CNC Control. You will be operating machines for valuable castings/forgings to manufacture them into quality parts for customers. Typical 1st shift hours are 6:00 am-4:30 pm and 2nd shift hours are 4:20 pm-2:50 am Monday - Friday. Availability for overtime, including weekends and during peak production times, is a plus. This position offers a hire-on-bonus!

Requirements

  • Preferred five or more years of combined formal training and true five-axis experience or equivalent.
  • Broad knowledge of machining techniques and familiarity with CNC machine tool operating procedures, specifically the Okuma 5-axis OSP-P300 CNC Control.
  • Ability to apply recognized tooling and procedures where tolerances are close
  • Experience with part loading/unloading utilizing a crane and basic material handling knowledge
  • Experience with manual clamping/part location as well as
  • Experience with tool setup and compensation processes
  • Geometric tolerancing and dimensioning trained
  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times.
  • Must be able to read and write English. Basic computer skills are a plus.
  • Exhibit an unrelating pursuit of excellence

Responsibilities

  • Follow written instructions and read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Performs a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exact tolerances and finish specifications.
  • Able to perform simple set-ups of many jobs. May operate more than one machine.
  • Checks parts for conformance to specifications with precision gauges.
  • Read and react accordingly to Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) reports
  • Complete problem-solving activities with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
