About the role Ace Precision supports mission-critical programs across Aerospace, Power Generation, Defense & Space, and Aftermarket Repair & Overhaul. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a 5-Axis CNC Mill Setup Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Oconomowoc or Menomonee Falls, WI . A day in this job You arrive to a clean, well-equipped cell and review the day’s work orders. Starting with the traveler, sketches, and product specifications, you map out the sequence of operations, select tooling, and plan offsets. You set up a 5-axis CNC milling center, load and verify the program, and run the first-off piece. Using bore gages, rail gages, and ID/OD micrometers, you confirm critical features meet close tolerance requirements. You document process data on SPC charts and make precise adjustments within defined limits. As production ramps, you confidently run multiple machines at once, watching for any sign of tool wear, dimensional drift, or finish variance, and correcting issues before they impact quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of related machining experience and/or training; or an equivalent blend of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret moderately complex sketches, routings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and operational sequences.
  • Visualize multi-axis tool motion up to and including 5 axes to ensure safe and efficient setups.
  • Set up, adjust, verify CNC programs, and operate CNC milling centers and tooling.
  • Identify malfunctions and out-of-tolerance conditions; report and resolve process variations and deviations.
  • Operate multiple machines concurrently to maximize throughput and resource utilization.
  • Hold tight tolerances and surface finish requirements on metallic components.
  • Inspect parts using bore gages, rail gages, and ID/OD micrometers; record process data with SPC charts.
