About The Position

Beta is a Title I Schoolwide campus. I understand that part or all of this job could be funded with federal funds. Reading Interventionists are passionate and knowledgeable about teaching Reading. They provide interventions for struggling readers, either whole groups or in small groups. They use data-driven instruction to increase scholar reading achievement school-wide. They also manage reading data entry and assist with management of school reading curriculum.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree with major in assigned area or currently working towards earning degree.
  • At least five years of teaching experience in reading/ELA.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing education/continuing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide joyful and rigorous reading interventions for struggling and at-risk scholars.
  • Work with campus and district leaders to develop and implement a remediation plan for scholars reading below target.
  • Teach multiple reading intervention classes during the Reading block(s).
  • Pull small groups for reading interventions throughout the day during grade level tutoring or intervention time.
  • Assign students to reading groups and tutoring assignments in collaboration with teachers and administrators.
  • Organize and distribute any/all Success For All (SFA) and Reading intervention materials (reading curriculum).
  • Maintain and organize SFA materials, books, manuals, posters, consumables, and non-consumables, etc. in the curriculum room.
  • Keep inventory of all SFA materials and keep a list of materials that need to be ordered.
  • Organize and lead the administration of quarterly progress monitoring assessments for reading intervention scholars.
  • Assign mastery levels every quarter based on NWEA MAP & STAR for 5th-8th grades.
  • Monitor student achievement and programming to see that every child is making adequate progress.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of all data gathering systems such as Member Center, DMAC, and Cambium (or others) to assist in data driven instruction and teacher/scholar support.
  • Understand and implement Beta-adopted Reading curriculum, tools, and software (Success For All, Theme Reads, IXL, Reading Horizons, AR/STAR, etc.).
  • Monitor pacing, grades, and scholar progress through running reports on Member Center and Reading Horizons (or other Beta-adopted reading intervention programs) every month and submit reports to the Principal and CAO.
  • Create reading data spreadsheets to track and monitor scholar growth.
  • Assist with the implementation of RTI for Reading and the requirements of accelerated instruction outlined in HB1416.
  • Create and maintain tracking spreadsheets for HB1416 and follow up with teachers about scholar progress in earning their HB1416 accelerated tutoring hours.
  • Participate in all reading professional development/training provided by the district and SFA Foundation, including webinars, in-person-training, videos, conferences, etc.
  • Plan and develop special reading projects as approved or provided.
  • Provide before or after school tutoring services (as needed or assigned).
  • Teach reading summer school as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal.
