Phoenix Tailings is seeking a Chemical Engineering Co-Op to join our innovative team in Burlington, MA. In this co-op position, you will work closely with our engineering team, which includes material, metal, chemical, and R&D engineers, as well as scientists. You will be involved in various projects that span across the entirety of Phoenix's technology stack. The role requires a hands-on attitude, high energy, and enthusiasm, as well as the initiative to improve operational processes through collaboration and research. You will be responsible for preparing laboratory-scale experiments, conducting analyses, and developing mass and energy balances using Excel. Additionally, you will build techno-economic models to support process design optimization and draft process flow diagrams (PFD), flowsheets, and P&IDs. Your contributions will also include conducting benchmark studies to size required equipment for pilot and commercial scales, documenting process methods and results, and developing and executing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratory and pilot-scale experiments. Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment is essential, as is preparing reports and presentations of data and results.
