About The Position

The position involves demonstrating knowledge of content and pedagogy, as well as understanding child growth and development, particularly for the age group assigned. The role requires tracking and analyzing student-related data to determine appropriate actions, setting goals, and implementing strategies that lead to academic success. The educator will design coherent instruction based on district learning targets and student needs, administer assessments to measure student performance, and effectively integrate instructional technology into the classroom. Creating a respectful and engaging learning environment, managing classroom procedures, and establishing standards for pupil behavior are essential responsibilities. The educator will also communicate effectively with students and families, participate in professional learning communities, and maintain professional competence through ongoing education.

Requirements

  • Appropriately licensed/certified by the Illinois State Board of Education (Gen Ed K-9 preferred).
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Ability to work successfully with diverse populations.
  • Competence in the use of technology, diagnostic tools, and other instructional materials.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to swiftly and accurately understand complex data.
  • Positive attitude and excellent work ethic/organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • High level of professionalism and ethics.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of child growth and development, especially of characteristics of students/children in the age group assigned.
  • Tracks and analyzes student-related data in order to determine course of action, sets goals, and implements strategies resulting in academic success.
  • Designs coherent instruction based on district learning targets/initiatives and student needs.
  • Designs and administers formative and summative assessments that measure student performance based on established learning targets.
  • Effectively and strategically implements instructional technology into the classroom.
  • Ensures students have appropriate resources to perform various tasks required in the classroom.
  • Creates an environment of respect and rapport.
  • Establishes a culture for learning.
  • Manages classroom procedures that support learning.
  • Establishes standards and manages pupil behavior in order to achieve a safe and functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Organizes the physical environment so as to promote learning.
  • Communicates effectively with students.
  • Uses appropriate questioning and discussion techniques.
  • Engages students in learning.
  • Exhibits strong knowledge in culturally responsive teaching.
  • Utilizes knowledge of instruction, relevant curriculum, and strategies leading to success for students not meeting grade level standards.
  • Uses assessment information to drive instructional decision-making.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Reflects on teaching for the purpose of growth and improvement.
  • Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
  • Communicates effectively with families in a timely manner on issues of student needs, goals, and growth.
  • Participates in a professional learning community by attending meetings and committees, as needed.
  • Builds positive working relationships with colleagues.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in behavior and address.
  • Reports to work regularly with infrequent absences (with the exception of such days/leaves approved by the Board).
  • Assumes responsibility for other duties as may be assigned.
