The position involves managing the counter at the Distribution Center and performing a variety of clerical functions. The individual will greet and assist truck drivers and visitors, ensuring effective communication with local and over-the-road drivers throughout the shipping process. The role requires the separation of returned invoices and bills of lading, as well as the use of a personal computer to complete various job tasks. The employee will also be responsible for answering telephone calls, taking messages, and tracking the total number of cases shipped. Maintaining accurate CHEP counts with each shipment and assisting Customer Service with customer orders are also key responsibilities. Coordination with Quality Control to clarify Safe Quality Food status of various items is necessary, along with generating and maintaining computerized reports and spreadsheets related to shipping. The work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional tasks in the warehouse area, especially during the busy summer intake season. The role requires access to confidential data, including wages and financial reports.
