About The Position

The City of Charlotte’s Aviation Department – Development Division Engineering Summer Internship Program is designed to recruit diverse college students majoring in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related disciplines. The program provides full-time employment during the summer and offers students real life job experiences. We are seeking talented students with strong technical and interpersonal skills in the following disciplines: airport planning and design, surveying, construction, and utility relocation.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have graduated from high school and be currently enrolled in an engineering, engineering technology, environmental science, construction management, surveying, or related program.
  • Position requires good driving record, valid driver’s license, ability to receive and maintain a City Driving Permit (Please note that in order to receive a City Driving Permit, employees must have their license for a minimum of two years).

Responsibilities

  • The selected candidate will assist project managers in the development of future airport projects
  • Assist inspection staff in field inspection of airfield and roadway projects under construction
  • Participate in coordination of resolving conflicts between existing utility facilities and proposed public works projects
  • Complete various administrative tasks as assigned.
