About The Position

The Part-Time 4-H Program Assistant for McKean County is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate 4-H events, activities, and projects for youth at local, area, and state levels. This role involves collaborating with staff to develop new county programs to engage diverse audiences, and providing support to 4-H members, leaders, and families with program registration and attendance. Key duties include coordinating registration and supervision for 4-H members, assisting with specific programs like the 4-H Embryology School Enrichment, and maintaining communication with volunteers, youth, and parents regarding upcoming opportunities. The assistant is also tasked with monitoring children to ensure their safety and whereabouts, participating in regional or state events, and offering support at traditional 4-H events through tasks such as registration, chaperoning, conducting workshops, and managing shows and contests. Additionally, the position involves writing news releases and social media posts for marketing purposes, assisting with evaluation data entry, and working cooperatively with other staff on various programs and special events.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement and evaluate age-appropriate 4-H events, activities, and projects with youth at local, area and state 4-H events.
  • Work with staff to create new county programs to reach new audiences.
  • Support 4-H members, leaders and families in registering and attending programs and events.
  • Coordinate registration, and supervision for 4-H members in programs.
  • Assist with coordination of the 4-H Embryology School Enrichment program.
  • Provide communication to volunteers, youth, and parents about upcoming programs and opportunities.
  • Monitor children and be responsible for the whereabouts, supervision, and safety of all children registered for the program.
  • Participate in regional or state events as appropriate.
  • Provide support at traditional 4-H events by recording registration, chaperoning, conducting workshops and assisting with the management of shows and contests.
  • Write news releases, social media posts and assist with general marketing to increase public awareness and participation.
  • Assist with evaluation data entry as needed.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff in planning and conducting programs, activities, and other special events.
