About The Position

The 3rd Shift Supervisor - Mental Health Worker IV position at the Department of Mental Health involves overseeing direct care staff in a residential setting, ensuring the implementation of Individual Action Plans, and maintaining a person-centered atmosphere. The role requires both supervisory responsibilities and direct care duties, emphasizing the importance of effective communication, documentation, and adherence to regulations.

Requirements

  • Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience providing direct care service to the mentally ill, emotionally or physically handicapped.
  • At least one year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English effectively.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain harmonious working relationships.
  • Ability to remain calm and react quickly in emergency situations.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of human services.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher with a major in psychology, human services, mental health, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Residential Supervisor and provide supervision to other MHW staff as assigned.
  • Read pertinent records and documentation & communicate all pertinent information to other staff.
  • Assist in the development, understanding, and implementation of Individual Action Plans for assigned persons served.
  • Assist persons with obtaining and maintaining benefits and entitlements.
  • Supervise and/or assist persons served in managing personal money on a day-to-day basis.
  • Educate persons served regarding transportation options to increase independence.
  • Transport persons to all necessary appointments and activities.
  • Assist persons served in the development of independent living skills such as personal hygiene, cooking, and housekeeping.
  • Provide an oral shift report to at least one member of the oncoming shift and maintain communication for continuity of care.
  • Complete and submit audits of assigned medical records within prescribed timelines.
