About the position

The Sanitation Supervisor oversees the cleaning of plant production equipment and facilities to meet food safety requirements as mandated by federal, state, and local regulations, as well as DFA standards. This role ensures compliance with company policies and procedures, maintains sanitation quality and department efficiencies, and supports continual improvement in Food Safety and Quality programs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day sanitation of equipment and facilities.
  • Train employees, plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Develop and document cleaning procedures (e.g., SSOPs, cleaning logs).
  • Train and document all sanitation workers for safe operation and disassembly of equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety rules and standards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure food safety and quality control specifications are met.
  • Comply with all company GMPs.
  • Develop, maintain, and comply with the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Create clear and well-defined cleaning procedures for all equipment and facility areas.
  • Collaborate with management and chemical suppliers to improve sanitation results and reduce costs.
  • Protect product during sanitation.
  • Supervise, motivate, and train sanitation production workers.
  • Coordinate sanitation and some production items for the plant.
  • Work with R D and Quality Assurance on sanitation issues related to production, new products, special runs, etc.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to address machinery, pump, and mill problems.
  • Ensure quality, productivity, and food safety standards are met.
  • Work independently and within a team on special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience in the food industry; food industry sanitation experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as MSDS, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent for preparing cleaning chemicals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • HACCP certification preferred.
  • Analytical, critical, inductive, and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Adaptable and flexible time and scheduling management.
